2. These are two pieces I think show my growth as an artist. The first one shows a pencil still life that we drew from our perspective in the room. It was the first project we did in class. I think it shows my growth as an artist from Art I to Art II. The second piece is a pear drawn with prismacolor. This one shows my growth as an artist because it was my first time working with prismacolors for a project. I think the pear turned out pretty good. I expanded my horizons as an artist and tried something new. I would definitely say that grew as an artist because of these projects.
4. The pictures above are the two mini lessons I felt were most beneficial to my learning. The first one is a pencil drawing of three different shapes. This activity helped me with improve my shading on the shapes as well as the shadows. It also helped me with overlapping shadows and perspective. I like shading, so I enjoyed this mini lesson. The other mini lesson I chose was a pen and ink value chart activity. The first value chart shows stippling, the second is hatching, the third is cross-hatching, and the last is one is a pattern I invented. This exercise really helped me with my pen and ink techniques. Practicing these techniques helped me become better at pen and ink. I feel like overall in the class, I needed more instruction in order to be more successful. I need step by instructions on how to do something so I can be confident in what I am doing.
6. My favorite medium to work with was pen. The pen and ink unit was one of my favorite units in Art II. I drew patterned lemons for the final pen and ink project, which wasn't the best drawing, but I still enjoyed drawing the patterns. I was able to become good at pen and ink because of all the practice we did with different pen techniques. We did a value chart for each technique and lots of practice worksheets working with pen. Another thing that helped me develop my skills was the one-hundred square project. It was easier to do the patterns and fill the lemons with the patterns because of that activity. It was fun to create so many different patterns.
7. One project where I did not feel very successful was the candy drawing mini project. The medium that was used was prismacolor. The assignment was to take a picture of candy on our tables from different angles then chose one picture to draw. I think one of the reasons I was not successful in this piece was the type of candy. It was hard for me to draw the candy and especially the wrappers I wasn't sure how to draw. It was also difficult for me to draw the clear vase. Another thing is I don't think I had the right colors to make this drawing look more realistic. If I could do this project again I would chose a different type of candy to photograph and leave the vase out of my drawing to make it easier for me to create a successful piece.
